Terms of Use

The rules for using Eva Split, including subscriptions and scan credits.

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are the license agreement for Eva Split, a bill-splitting app for the web and iOS, operated by Josh Karges. By using Eva Split you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

The service

Eva Split helps people split restaurant bills: add line items by hand or by photographing a receipt, assign items, split tax and tip, and share a link. Features may change. We do not promise uninterrupted availability.

Your account

Some features (history, saved payment handles, AI scans, purchases) require an account via email/password, Google, or Sign in with Apple. You are responsible for activity on your account. We may suspend access if we reasonably believe these Terms are being abused (for example automated scraping or quota evasion).

Shared links

A receipt or receipt-group link is the access key. Anyone who has the link can view and edit that split, including the photo and any payment handles stored on it. You are responsible for who you send the link to. Eva Split is a coordination tool among people at a table, not a bank, tax advisor, or payment processor. Friends pay each other using whatever handles you choose to share; we do not move the money.

AI scanning

AI scan sends a receipt photo to Google Gemini to suggest line items and totals. The result can be wrong. You can edit everything before or after sharing. Scanning uses a free scan, a purchased credit, or an Eva Split Pro subscription, as described below. Manual entry never uses a scan.

Eva Split Pro (auto-renewing subscription)

Title: Eva Split Pro
Length: one year, auto-renewing
Price: $9.99 per year in the US (USD). The App Store or Stripe checkout shows the price that applies to your storefront and currency.
What you get: unlimited AI receipt scans while the subscription is active.

On iOS, this is an auto-renewing In-App Purchase:

On the web, Eva Split Pro is billed through Stripe at the same listed price. Manage or cancel from Scan balance → Manage subscription (Stripe billing portal), or from the customer portal Stripe emails you.

Scan credits (one-time, not a subscription)

A pack of 20 AI scans costs $2.99 (USD; storefront price may differ). It is a one-time consumable, not a subscription, and does not auto-renew. Credits do not expire. Each successful AI scan uses one credit (or one free scan, if you still have any). Consumed credits are non-refundable.

Signed-in users also receive 5 lifetime free AI scans (not a monthly allowance). Referring a friend who signs up and completes their first scan can grant bonus credits as described in the app.

Refunds

iOS purchases are billed by Apple. Request an iOS refund from Apple, not from inside Eva Split. Web purchases are billed by Stripe. Consumed scan credits are non-refundable on every platform. For other web billing questions, contact us using the details below.

Acceptable use

Use Eva Split for splitting bills with people who agreed to share that receipt. Do not upload content you do not have the right to use, probe other people’s links, or attempt to bypass scan limits.

Disclaimer

Eva Split is provided “as is.” Splits, tax, tip, and currency math are helpers, not professional advice. We are not liable for misread receipts, share-link access, or payment disputes among diners, to the extent permitted by law.

Changes

We may update these Terms by posting a new version at this URL with a new date. Continued use after that date means you accept the update. Material changes to the subscription itself (title, length, or price) are also shown in the App Store or Stripe checkout before you pay.
